This study investigated the correlation between reading attitude andreading achievement, and investigated the influence of reading attitudeon reading achievement on the eighth grade students at SMP LTI IGMPalembang in academic year 2023/2024. The research wasquantitative research. The sample of this study was all of the eighthgrade students. The sample of this study was 86 students by using totalsampling technique. The data were collected by using reading attitudequestionnaire adapted from Mikulecky’s Behavioral Reading AttitudeMeasure (MBRAM) by Murray (2009) cited in Sartika (2014) andreading achievement test adopted by Karista (2022). Descriptivestatistics and Rank Spearman correlation were used to find out thecorrelation and influence between variables. The result showed thatthere was no significant correlation between students reading attitudeand reading achievement with r (.099) which was lower than r-table(.209) and the level of probability (p) significance (sig. 2-tailed) was.364 which was higher than 0.05. This research could haveimplications for English teachers, students, and next researchers.
