Abstract

Maluk is a coastal area in Sumbawa Barat which is located next to industrial and smelter area. Due to this condition, Maluk has sustained some impacts in environment, socio-cultural aspects and local economy development. Hence, this community service aims to assist the local people of Maluk in mapping the potential and problems of their area. The method used was Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which involves representatives from Mantun village, Pasir Putih village Maluk village, and Bukit Damai village. The result of this activity is the mapping of micro land use in Maluk. 93% of the participants stated the importance of improving their neighborhood. Some of the strategies offered are strengthening the role and involvement of local communities while at the same time utilizing the strategic position of the area by developing the trade and service sectors supported by the tourism sector.
