Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the implementation of the Active Learning model can improve student engagement and motivation in IPAS learning among fourth-grade students at SDN Tangungguh 2. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over three cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 25 fourth-grade students, including 11 boys and 14 girls. Data were collected through observations, motivation questionnaires, and student engagement observation sheets. The results showed that the implementation of the Active Learning model significantly improved student motivation and engagement. This was evidenced by an increase in motivation scores from an average of 70.10 in cycle I to 88.25 in cycle II, and 89.05 in cycle III. Student engagement also improved in indicators such as discussion participation, activity involvement, and attendance and discipline, all of which showed upward trends across the cycles. Thus, the Active Learning model proved effective in creating more active, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experiences for students. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana penerapan model pembelajaran Active Learning dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan dan motivasi belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran IPAS di kelas IV SDN Tangungguh 2. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus, masing-masing meliputi tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 25 siswa kelas IV yang terdiri dari 11 laki-laki dan 14 perempuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket motivasi, dan lembar pengamatan keterlibatan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Active Learning secara signifikan meningkatkan motivasi dan keterlibatan siswa. Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan skor motivasi dari rata-rata 70,10 pada siklus I menjadi 88,25 pada siklus II, dan mencapai 89,05 pada siklus III. Peningkatan keterlibatan siswa juga terlihat dari indikator keaktifan diskusi, partisipasi aktivitas, serta kedisiplinan dan kehadiran yang menunjukkan tren naik di setiap siklus. Dengan demikian, model Active Learning terbukti efektif dalam menciptakan pembelajaran yang lebih aktif, menyenangkan, dan bermakna bagi siswa.
