Abstrak. Lembaga zakat berperan strategis dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan ekonomi melalui mekanisme distribusi kekayaan berbasis nilai-nilai Islam. Optimalisasi fungsi lembaga zakat sangat bergantung pada efektivitas kepemimpinan yang berlandaskan prinsip-prinsip Islami. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode tinjauan literatur untuk mengidentifikasi konsep kepemimpinan Islam yang relevan dalam pengelolaan zakat serta menganalisis kontribusinya terhadap efektivitas lembaga zakat. Data dikumpulkan dari berbagai jurnal, buku, dan laporan penelitian yang relevan, kemudian dianalisis secara tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik kepemimpinan Islam seperti kejujuran (al-sidq), amanah, tabligh, kecerdasan (fathonah), dan keadilan (al-adl) berkontribusi signifikan dalam memperkuat tata kelola lembaga zakat. Implementasi gaya kepemimpinan transformasional, situasional, dan e-leadership berbasis nilai Islami mampu meningkatkan motivasi karyawan, memperbaiki transparansi, dan memperluas jangkauan distribusi zakat. Temuan ini memperkaya literatur kepemimpinan zakat dan memberikan rekomendasi strategis untuk integrasi nilai-nilai kepemimpinan Islam dalam pengembangan lembaga zakat ke depan. Penelitian ini diharapkan menjadi referensi bagi praktisi dan akademisi dalam memperkuat peran lembaga zakat sebagai instrumen pemberdayaan ekonomi dan sosial. Abstract. Zakat institutions play a strategic role in enhancing the economic welfare of society through wealth redistribution mechanisms based on Islamic values. The optimization of zakat institutions' functions largely depends on the effectiveness of leadership grounded in Islamic principles. This study employs a literature review method to identify relevant concepts of Islamic leadership in zakat management and to analyze its contribution to the effectiveness of zakat institutions. Data were collected from various journals, books, and research reports, and were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that Islamic leadership characteristics such as honesty (al-sidq), trustworthiness (amanah), effective communication (tabligh), intelligence (fathonah), and justice (al-adl) significantly strengthen the governance of zakat institutions. The implementation of transformational, situational, and e-leadership styles based on Islamic values enhances employee motivation, improves transparency, and expands the reach of zakat distribution. These findings enrich the leadership literature in zakat management and provide strategic recommendations for integrating Islamic leadership values in the future development of zakat institutions. This research is expected to serve as a reference for practitioners and academics in strengthening the role of zakat institutions as instruments of economic and social empowerment.
