<![CDATA[Management information systems are a collection of systems that work together and produce the information needed by users. The main purpose of an information system is to make work easier, especially related to data and information. The benefit of implementing a management information system is the ability to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data accurately and precisely. The writing describes the structure of the Management Information System and the application of information systems in educational institutions. The research technique used in this paper is library research. The research findings reveal that the structure of information systems is fundamentally divided into two, namely structured systems (formal) and unstructured (nonformal) systems. Management information systems strive to integrate both. Understanding the structure of management information systems can also be obtained through various approaches such as organizational functions, management activities, conceptual, and physical. In educational institutions, particularly universities, the implementation of management information systems has been carried out by almost all educational units. A leader of an educational institution must have the capability to manage information as a basis in the accountable decision-making process in the field of education.
