According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2022, there are approximately 400,000 new cases of cervical cancer each year worldwide, with 80% occurring in women living in developing countries. This study aims to describe mothers’ knowledge regarding Pap smear examinations at Kertapati Public Health Center, Palembang, in 2024. This research used a descriptive survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using accidental sampling, involving 35 married women aged 21–69 years within the working area of the Kertapati Public Health Center. Data were collected using a questionnaire as an interview guide. The knowledge aspects assessed included the definition, purpose, timing, and procedure of Pap smear examinations. The results showed that 22 respondents (62.8%) knew the definition of a Pap smear, 25 respondents (71.4%) understood its purpose, and 22 respondents (62.8%) were aware of its benefits. Fourteen respondents (40%) knew who should undergo the examination, while only 9 respondents (25.7%) understood the requirements. A total of 15 respondents (42.9%) knew that the examination should not be done during menstruation. Meanwhile, 34 respondents (97.1%) knew the location for Pap smear examinations, and 30 respondents (85.7%) understood that the procedure involves collecting fluid from the cervix. It is expected that the results of this study can serve as a reference for health workers to better understand the level of maternal knowledge regarding Pap smear examinations.
