Abstract

Abstract The phenomenon of the increasing number of single-parent families due to divorce poses various psychosocial challenges, especially for late adolescents who are in the period of self-identity formation. This study aims to understand the meaning of resilience in late adolescents raised by single mothers. The approach used was qualitative with the interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) method. Five participants aged 18-22 years were purposively selected, with the criteria of having been raised by a single mother for more than five years due to divorce. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed thematically. The results showed that the meaning of resilience was influenced by the quality of the relationship with the mother, the ability of self-reflection, and social support. The seven aspects of resilience emerged in different ways according to the context of each participant's experience. This study highlights that resilience is not something that appears instantly, but is formed through a process of making meaning of complex life experiences.
