Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana gambaran siswa yang mengalami perasaan Fear of Failure menjelang UTBK 2025. Studi ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif fenomenologis dengan teknik analisis data Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). Pemilihan metode ini didasarkan pada relevansinya dengan tujuan penelitian, yaitu memahami pengalaman subjektif partisipan secara mendalam. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam semi-terstruktur yang melibatkan empat siswa sebagai partisipan utama. Pada penelitian ini enam tema utama berhasil diidentifikasi, yaitu: (1) luka psikologis dan validasi diri sebagai sumber daya motivasi, (2) ketegangan antara aspirasi pribadi dan harapan eksternal, (3) strategi regulasi emosi: antara afirmasi, menarik diri, dan spiritualitas, (4) Fear of Failure dan strategi ketahanan mental, (5) kritik, validasi sosial, dan ambivalensi ekspresi diri, serta (6) rasionalisasi dan adaptasi sebagai bentuk ketangguhan. Selain itu, ditemukan pula tema khas (idiosinkratik) yang hanya muncul pada partisipan tertentu, seperti keterbukaan terhadap kegagalan tanpa pencitraan (R3), menyembunyikan nilai demi menjaga ekspektasi orang tua (R4), dan transformasi kritik menjadi semangat pengembangan diri (R4). Temuan dalam penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperkaya khazanah keilmuan di bidang psikologi pendidikan dan psikologi perkembangan, terutama dalam menjelaskan bagaimana siswa SMA memaknai Fear of Failure dalam situasi tekanan akademik menjelang UTBK. Pendekatan fenomenologis yang digunakan memungkinkan eksplorasi mendalam terhadap pengalaman personal siswa, sehingga dapat menjadi dasar penguatan teori maupun praktik pendampingan psikologis pada masa transisi pendidikan yang penuh tantangan. Abstract The aim of this study is to explore how students define and experience Fear of Failure in the context of the Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK), identify the factors associated with this fear, examine its impact on exam preparation, assess the role of social support, and analyzed how students cope with the Fear of Failure in anticipation of the 2025 UTBK. This research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach with data analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The selection of this methodology is based on its alignment with the research objective, which is to gain an in-depth understanding of participants' subjective experiences. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured in-depth interviews, involving four high school students as primary participants. In this study, six main themes were successfully identified: (1) psychological wounds and self-validation as motivational resources, (2) the tension between personal aspirations and external expectations, (3) emotion regulation strategies: between affirmation, withdrawal, and spirituality, (4) Fear of Failure and mental resilience strategies, (5) criticism, social validation, and ambivalence of self-expression, and (6) rationalization and adaptation as forms of resilience. Additionally, idiosyncratic themes emerged in specific participants, such as openness to failure without pretense (R3), concealing values to manage parental expectations (R4), and transforming criticism into self-development motivation (R4). The findings of this study are expected to enrich the body of knowledge in educational psychology and developmental psychology, particularly in explaining how high school students interpret the Fear of Failure in situations of academic pressure leading up to the UTBK (University Entrance Exam). The phenomenological approach employed allowed for an in-depth exploration of students' personal experiences, which can serve as a basis for strengthening theories and psychological counseling practices during this challenging educational transition period.
