The demand for versatile telecommunications devices is growing rapidly, one of which is the smartphone. The increasing need for smartphones has also driven the development of various applications, both for mobile phones in general and specifically for smartphones. Currently, the variety of features and technologies in smartphones is expanding, while prices are becoming more competitive and affordable. The focus of this research is consumer perception of smartphones using a qualitative-descriptive research approach. The research findings indicate that perceptions of smartphones are more dominant as a lifestyle choice, while aspects of need and desire tend to be less important. Designing and building home door locks, along with automated lighting and fans as hardware. Additionally, using Android and Arduino programs as software. Smartphones serve as controllers to manage door locks, lights, and fans. Temperature and humidity sensors are also included so users can monitor the temperature and humidity in the room. The device used as a connector is the NodeMCU ESP8266 module. The relay functions as a switching device to control the door lock, lights, and fan. The DHT22 sensor is used to detect the temperature and humidity in the room. The temperature and humidity of the room will be displayed on the smartphone screen.
