Democracy is indeed a fertile ground for the growth and development of individualism. Individualism in a democratic society in Indonesia can be seen from individual freedom, equality, and solidarity. These three values are part of the overall values of individualism. This paper is written to analyze how individualism is practiced in a democratic society in Indonesia. The focus is on how the government and the general public strive to practice individualism. The author uses a literature review and critical analysis method to complete this paper. The author found that individualism in a democratic society in Indonesia has been practiced. This can be seen from various policies made by the government to increase individual freedom, equality, and solidarity. The challenge of the development of individualism is extreme pragmatism. One way to overcome this extreme pragmatism is through critical, inclusive, and pluralistic education.
