Abstract

In the body, vitamin D has another purpose. Vitamin D has been linked to a number of immune-related disorders, including asthma, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, covid-19, and autoimmune illnesses, according to both population-based and molecular research. Consequently, studies on the connection between vitamin D and inflammatory cells have started, although not much has been said about how it works. The purpose of this study was to investigate the function and mode of action of vitamin D, or calcitriol, as an anti-inflammatory. This study's methodology is a review of the literature utilizing papers from indexed journals in the Scopus database from 2011 to 2022. Drawing from a review of relevant literature, it can be inferred that vitamin D plays a role in inflammation, acting as an anti-inflammatory agent by blocking the NF-κB signaling pathway and immune cells, including macrophages, DC, B cells, and T cells, through the action of vitamin D receptors (VDR).
