IMPLEMENTASI DAN ANALISIS PROTOKOL HSRP DAN VRRP DALAM MENINGKATKAN REDUNDANSI GATEWAY PADA JARINGAN VIRTUAL

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang pesat menuntut ketersediaan jaringan tinggi untuk mendukung layanan kritikal. Penelitian ini menganalisis implementasi protokol redundansi HSRP (Cisco-proprietary) dan VRRP (standar IEEE) dalam meningkatkan ketersediaan jaringan melalui simulasi Cisco Packet Tracer dan GNS3. Metode eksperimen mencakup: (1) konfigurasi gateway virtual, (2) pengujian failover otomatis, dan (3) analisis parameter QoS (ping, traceroute). Hasil menunjukkan kedua protokol berhasil mempertahankan konektivitas tanpa packet loss saat failover, dengan latency 0ms (HSRP) dan respons stabil (VRRP). HSRP unggul dalam lingkungan Cisco dengan preempt cepat, sedangkan VRRP lebih fleksibel untuk jaringan multi-vendor. Temuan ini membuktikan efektivitas redundansi First-Hop dalam memitigasi downtime, sekaligus menyoroti kebutuhan pengujian lanjutan pada beban trafik tinggi dan integrasi dengan SDN. Penelitian ini memberikan dasar empiris untuk seleksi protokol redundansi sesuai kebutuhan infrastruktur jaringan.  The rapid advancement of information technology demands high network availability for critical services. This study analyzes the implementation of redundancy protocols HSRP (Cisco-proprietary) and VRRP (IEEE standard) to enhance network availability through Cisco Packet Tracer and GNS3 simulations. Experimental methods include: (1) virtual gateway configuration, (2) automatic failover testing, and (3) QoS parameter analysis (ping, traceroute). Results demonstrate both protocols maintained zero packet loss during failover, with 0ms latency (HSRP) and stable response (VRRP). HSRP excels in Cisco environments with fast preemption, while VRRP offers multi-vendor flexibility. These findings prove the efficacy of First-Hop redundancy in mitigating downtime, while highlighting the need for further testing under high traffic loads and SDN integration.
