Abstract

Kata kunci: gejala gangguan pernafasan, gergaji kayu, hierarki kontrol Abstract Workers in the wood furniture industry, especially in the wood sawing section, are very susceptible to respiratory problems because the dust left over from the wood saws is inhaled and deposited in the nose, throat and lungs. In implementing risk control, the risk control hierarchy is a priority in selecting and implementing controls related to hazards. This study uses a risk control hierarchical approach to analyze the determinants of respiratory disorders in wood furniture saw workers. Observational analytic research design with a cross-sectional approach with a population and sample of 84 respondents with a total sampling technique. Data collection using a questionnaire. Observation of the risk control hierarchy, including: elimination, substitution, technical control, administrative control, and use of personal protective equipment. Multivariate analysis used multiple linear regression to identify the determinants of respiratory problems in wood furniture saw workers. The results showed that elimination risk control, technical engineering, and personal protective equipment risk affected the incidence of respiratory symptoms (p<0.05), and substitution risk control did not affect the incidence of respiratory symptoms (p>0.05). Observation of the risk control hierarchy contributes 22.9%. It is expected that the participation of health workers in providing knowledge and socialization about the importance of health for wood saw workers. Keywords: respiratory disorders, wood saws, hierarchy of control
