Abstract

The increasing importance of environmental sustainability has driven companies to adopt Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) practices, which are believed to enhance competitive advantage. However, research on how GSCM influences competition in specific industries remains limited, particularly in the context of small and medium-sized companies in Indonesia. This study aims to investigate the implementation of GSCM and its effect on the competitive advantage of PT Gudang Baru Berkah. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining both qualitative and quantitative methods, with data collected through interviews, observations, and surveys. Using purposive sampling, six respondents were selected, including one expert informant in supply chain management, who helped assess GSCM performance, and five others working in relevant operational fields. The data were analyzed using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in Expert Choice 11. The results indicate that GSCM practices significantly influence the company’s competitive advantage, particularly in terms of competitive pricing, product quality, delivery reliability, innovation, and speed to market. The study provides novel insights into how GSCM can be a strategic lever for small and medium-sized companies to enhance their market positioning. These findings have important implications for managers seeking to integrate sustainability practices into their supply chains to improve business performance and gain a competitive advantage.
