Urban livability is the extent to which urban settings promote the long-term contentment and well-being of inhabitants by guaranteeing environmental quality, safety, accessibility, and enough social infrastructure (housing, health, education, green space, and transportation). This study primarily aims to assess the Impact of Urban Congestion and Transport Inefficiencies on Urban Livability in Dhaka City with some other specifics such as exploring indicators of measuring urban livability, analyzing the interrelation between urban livability and transport and finding the challenges being associated with urban congestion and transport inefficiencies regarding urban livability. The study has been conducted in a qualitative manner where data has been collected from the secondary specifically online sources such as –books, journal articles, news portals, etc. The findings of the study reveal that urban congestion and transportation inefficiency impacts urban livability. As the population of Dhaka city is rapidly increasing so challenges, such as – inadequate transportation, absence of essential infrastructures, safety and security concerns, etc. also rising. Such congestion and transport inefficiency not only creates damage in terms of the economic side but also hampers public health. Additionally, overlapping responsibilities, inadequate planning of housing, paths and ways have been identified as challenges which create trouble for the lives of the inhabitants. Hence, this study tried to propose some recommendations to mitigate such challenges in order to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of Dhaka city.
