PENINGKATAN KESEHATAN IBU DAN JANIN MELALUI PENCEGAHAN DIABETES MELITUS

Abstract

Abstrak: Puskesmas Kota Selatan di Kota Gorontalo berperan penting dalam meningkatkan kesehatan ibu dan anak. Fluktuasi angka kematian ibu (AKI) dalam lima tahun terakhir, dengan tertinggi 229,9 per 100.000 kelahiran hidup pada 2020, menunjukkan pentingnya pencegahan komplikasi kehamilan seperti diabetes melitus gestasional (DMG). Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan kader kesehatan dan pengetahuan ibu hamil dalam deteksi dini serta pencegahan DMG melalui pemeriksaan glukosa darah dan edukasi kesehatan. Metode meliputi ceramah interaktif, diskusi kelompok terarah, praktik pemeriksaan glukosa darah, serta pre-test dan post-test. Mitra kegiatan terdiri dari 25 kader kesehatan dan ibu hamil berisiko di Kelurahan Limba B. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan ibu hamil dari 71,43% menjadi 100% kategori baik, dengan 89,29% memiliki kadar gula darah normal. Edukasi dan pemeriksaan rutin terbukti efektif dalam pencegahan komplikasi kehamilan akibat DMG.Abstract: The South City Community Health Center in Gorontalo City plays a crucial role in improving maternal and child health. Fluctuations in the maternal mortality rate (MMR) over the past five years, with a peak of 229.9 per 100,000 live births in 2020, demonstrate the importance of preventing pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). This community service activity aims to improve the skills of health workers and the knowledge of pregnant women in early detection and prevention of GDM through blood glucose testing and health education. Methods include interactive lectures, focus group discussions, practical blood glucose testing, and pre- and post-tests. Participants included 25 health workers and at-risk pregnant women in Limba B Village. Results showed an increase in maternal knowledge from 71.43% to 100% in the good category, with 89.29% having normal blood sugar levels. Education and routine check-ups have proven effective in preventing pregnancy complications due to GDM.
