HUBUNGAN CYBERBULLYING DENGAN SELF-REGULATION PADA REMAJA PENGGUNA MEDIA SOSIAL

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the experience of being a victim of cyberbullying and self-regulation skills in late adolescent social media users. A quantitative correlational approach was used, involving 310 adolescents aged 18–21 who actively use social media for more than 4 hours per day. Data in this study were collected online using the Cyberbullying Victimization Scale (9 items) to measure victimization experiences and the Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire (40 items) to measure self-regulation. The results of the Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis showed a strong and significant positive relationship (r = 0.690; p < 0.001), meaning that the more frequently adolescents experience cyberbullying as victims, the higher their level of self-regulation. The distribution of categorizations supports this finding, with 67.7% of respondents at high victimization levels and 68.4% at high self-regulation levels. No significant differences were found based on gender. These findings indicate that repeated exposure to cyberbullying can trigger increased self-regulation as an adaptive and protective mechanism in late adolescents. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara pengalaman menjadi korban cyberbullying dengan kemampuan self-regulation pada remaja akhir pengguna media sosial. Pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional digunakan dengan melibatkan 310 remaja berusia 18–21 tahun yang aktif menggunakan media sosial lebih dari 4 jam per hari. Data pada penelitian ini dikumpulkan secara daring menggunakan Cyberbullying Victimization Scale (9 item) untuk mengukur pengalaman sebagai korban dan Short Self-Regulation Questionnaire (40 item) untuk mengukur self-regulation. Hasil analisis korelasi Pearson Product Moment menunjukkan hubungan positif yang kuat dan signifikan (r = 0,690; p < 0,001), artinya semakin sering remaja mengalami cyberbullying sebagai korban, semakin tinggi tingkat self-regulation yang dimilikinya. Distribusi kategorisasi memperkuat temuan ini, dengan 67,7% responden berada pada tingkat victimization tinggi dan 68,4% pada self-regulation tinggi. Tidak ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan berdasarkan jenis kelamin. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa paparan berulang terhadap cyberbullying dapat memicu peningkatan self-regulation sebagai mekanisme adaptasi dan perlindungan diri pada remaja akhir.
