Fenomena rendahnya keterlibatan ayah dalam pengasuhan anak menjadi isu sosial yang penting karena berpengaruh terhadap perkembangan emosional, kontrol diri, dan pembentukan karakter anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis secara mendalam bagaimana film Kaka Boss mengonstruksi representasi peran ayah serta signifikansinya dalam membentuk pemahaman publik tentang figur ayah dalam keluarga, dengan menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme yang memandang realitas sosial sebagai hasil konstruksi makna melalui proses kultural, serta pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah film Kaka Boss, sedangkan objek kajian difokuskan pada representasi karakter Ferdinand “Kaka Boss” Omakare sebagai figur ayah. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi non-partisipan dengan pencatatan adegan, dialog, gestur, dan elemen audio-visual, serta divalidasi melalui triangulasi sumber. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce yang menafsirkan makna melalui relasi sign, object, dan interpretant, kemudian dikaitkan dengan teori representasi Stuart Hall untuk memahami proses pembentukan makna peran ayah dalam film. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kaka Boss merepresentasikan sosok ayah yang peduli, bertanggung jawab, dan aktif terlibat dalam pendidikan serta kehidupan emosional anak, sekaligus membangun narasi alternatif tentang maskulinitas dengan mematahkan stereotip negatif profesi debt collector. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa film berfungsi sebagai media refleksi sosial yang tidak hanya merepresentasikan realitas, tetapi juga berkontribusi membentuk pemahaman publik tentang pentingnya keterlibatan ayah dalam pengasuhan dan pembentukan karakter anak dalam keluarga kontemporer. Representation Of The Role Of The Father In The Film “Kaka Boss” Abstract The phenomenon of low paternal involvement in childrearing has become an important social issue because it affects children’s emotional development, self-control, and character formation. This study aims to analyze in depth how the film Kaka Boss constructs representations of the father’s role and its significance in shaping public understanding of fatherhood within the family, using a constructivist paradigm that views social reality as the result of meaning construction through cultural processes, along with a qualitative approach. The subject of the study is the film Kaka Boss, while the object of analysis focuses on the representation of the character Ferdinand “Kaka Boss” Omakare as a father figure. Data were collected through non-participant observation by documenting scenes, dialogues, gestures, and audio-visual elements, and were validated through source triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic approach, which interprets meaning through the relationship between sign, object, and interpretant, and was further linked to Stuart Hall’s theory of representation to understand the process of meaning construction regarding the father’s role in the film. The findings show that Kaka Boss represents a caring, responsible father who is actively involved in supporting his child’s education and emotional life, while also constructing an alternative narrative of masculinity by challenging negative stereotypes associated with the debt collector profession. These findings affirm that film functions as a medium of social reflection that not only represents reality but also contributes to shaping public understanding of the importance of fathers’ involvement in parenting and character development in contemporary families.
