MAKANAN BERGIZI SEIMBANG UNTUK PENCEGAHAN STUNTING DI KABUPATEN MOJOKERTO

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting remains a chronic nutritional problem that is commonly found in rural areas, including Mojokerto Regency, and has serious implications for child growth and development. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of mothers with young children and posyandu cadres regarding stunting prevention through balanced nutrition education and the utilization of local food resources. The activity was implemented using an educational and participatory approach, including socialization sessions, nutrition counseling, interactive discussions, and hands-on assistance in preparing nutritious local food–based meals. The program targeted mothers of children under five, posyandu cadres, and members of the village community. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition, appropriate parenting practices, age-appropriate child feeding, and the use of local food such as pumpkin as an alternative nutritious complementary food. In addition, the activity encouraged positive behavioral changes, particularly in regular child growth monitoring at posyandu. Overall, this community-based nutrition socialization contributed positively to stunting prevention efforts and strengthened community participation in improving child health and development outcomes.   ABSTRAK Stunting merupakan permasalahan kronis gizi yang masih banyak ditemukan di wilayah pedesaan, termasuk Kabupaten Mojokerto, dan berdampak serius terhadap kualitas tumbuh kembang anak. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran ibu balita serta kader posyandu mengenai pencegahan stunting melalui sosialisasi gizi seimbang dan pemanfaatan pangan lokal. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dengan pendekatan edukatif dan partisipatif melalui sosialisasi, penyuluhan gizi, diskusi interaktif, serta pendampingan praktik pengolahan makanan berbahan pangan lokal bergizi. Sasaran kegiatan meliputi ibu balita, kader posyandu, dan masyarakat desa. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai pentingnya gizi seimbang, pola asuh yang tepat, praktik memberikan makan anak sesuai usia, serta pemanfaatan pangan lokal seperti labu kuning sebagai alternatif MP-ASI Bergizi. Kegiatan ini juga mendorong perubahan sikap masyarakat dalam melakukan pemantauan pertumbuhan balita secara rutin di posyandu. Secara keseluruhan, sosialisasi gizi berbasis komunitas ini memberikan kontribusi positif dalam upaya pencegahan stunting dan penguatan peran masyarakat dalam meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan dan tumbuh kembang anak.
