<![CDATA[Abstract. This study aimed to examine Paul's views in Romans 1:26-32 through a Social Scientific Criticism approach. This study is deemed necessary considering that the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) issued a pastoral letter stating that homosexuality is not a sin. This pastoral letter is deemed inconsistent with the teachings of the Lutheran Churches in Indonesia. The Lutheran Churches that are intended are the Batak Protestant Christian Church (HKBP), the Indonesian Christian Church (HKI), the Simalungun Protestant Christian Church (GKPS), and the Indonesian Protestant Christian Church (GKPI). The result of the study indicates that the teaching of these Lutheran Churches is in line with the result of the interpretation using a social scientific criticism approach to Romans 1:26-32. Homosexuality and kinds of same-sex relationships are considered sins on a par with adultery or other serious violations, so they are subject to church discipline.Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana pandangan Paulus dalam Roma 1:26-32 melalui pendekatan Social Scientific Criticism. Kajian tersebut dirasa perlu dilakukan mengingat bahwa Persekutuan Gereja-gereja di Indonesia (PGI) sempat mengeluarkan surat pastoral yang menyatakan bahwa homoseksualitas bukanlah merupakan dosa. Surat pastoral tersebut dirasa tidak sejalan dengan ajaran Gereja-gereja Lutheran di Indonesia. Gereja Lutheran yang dimaksud adalah Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP), Huria Kristen Indonesia (HKI) Gereja Kristen Protestan Simalungun (GKPS), dan Gereja Kristen Protestan Indonesia (GKPI). Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sikap Gereja-gereja Lutheran tersebut sejalan dengan hasil penafsiran dengan pendekatan social scientific criticism terhadap Roma 1:26–32. Homoseksualitas dan bentuk hubungan sejenis dianggap sebagai dosa yang sejajar dengan perzinahan atau pelanggaran berat lainnya, sehingga dikenakan siasat/disiplin gereja.]]>
