Abstract

Cantang Grouper (Epinephelus sp.) is a commodity being developed as a superior product for export with a fairly high economic value. The nature of this grouper is faster growing and easily adapts to various environmental conditions. However, there is a problem in Cantang Grouper cultivation, namely a high mortality rate during the transition period between consuming natural feed and artificial feed. Therefore, it is necessary to have feed management to adjust the feed to the needs of the fish so that the fish get the required nutrition. The purpose of this study was to determine the management of feeding on the development of Cantang Grouper larvae at the Brackish Water Aquaculture Center (BPBAP) Situbondo Regency, East Java. The research method was carried out by observing all activities related to feeding management on the development of Cantang Grouper larvae (Epinephelus sp.) then the results obtained were described to illustrate the findings. The results showed that the feed for Cantang Grouper larvae consisted of two types, namely natural feed and artificial feed given Ad libitum. Feeding of Cantang Grouper larvae was done by mixing feed or overlead. Next, the feed dosage was increased according to the age of the larvae, followed by their organ development and metabolism. The calculated Hatching Rate (HR) was 34% and 28%, below standard, while the Survival Rate (SR) was 21.61%, considered low. This was due to high stocking densities and cannibalism.
