The purpose of this study is: (a)Describing the figure and characterization of the novel When God Falls In Love written by Wahyu Sujani, (b)Describing the figure and characterization of the film When God Falls In Love director’s work by Fransiska Fiorella, (c) Describing the consistency of figure and characterization in the novel When God Falls In Love written by Wahyu Sujani ecranisasion into the film When God Falls In Love director’s work by Fransiska Fiorella, (d) Explaining the principles of the ecranisation carried out by the director in the process of changing the novel When God Falls In Love written by Wahyu Sujani with the film When God Falls In Love director’s work by Fransiska Fiorella, (e) Explaining the figure and characterization that deviate from the novel and principle of ecranisation in the film and the meaningful deviation from the novel When God Falls In Love written by Wahyu Sujani into film When God Falls In Love director’s work by Fransiska Fiorella, (f) Utilizing results of the telling and showing study on the consistency of the figure and characterization of novels which were ecranisation into film as an alternative to critical thinking-oriented teaching materials for Indonesian language learning in high school.This study uses descriptive qualitative analysis method. The study examines the characterizationof novel that were ecranisation into film based on the study of telling and showing as an alternative to Indonesian language teaching materials oriented to critical thinking in high school. The result of the study, concluded that novel When God Falls In Love written by Wahyu Sujani ecranisasion into the film When God Falls In Love director’s work by Fransiska Fiorella describing various types of characterization with consistency, ecranisation process, and characterization deviations that can used as teaching materials to improve students’ critical thinking skills.
