ABSTRAK Tingginya angka karies gigi pada anak usia sekolah dasar di Aceh Besar menunjukkan masih rendahnya praktik deteksi dini kesehatan gigi di lingkungan sekolah. Kondisi ini mendorong dilaksanakannya program pengabdian masyarakat di MIN 20 Aceh Besar melalui inovasi Kit Skrining Karies Anak berbasis teknologi tepat guna yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru UKS dan dokter kecil dalam melakukan pemeriksaan gigi sederhana secara mandiri. Kegiatan dilakukan dengan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif dan pendampingan berkelanjutan selama empat bulan, melibatkan 10 guru UKS dan 30 dokter kecil. Peserta dilatih menggunakan kit deteksi dini karies, melakukan skrining gigi rutin, serta mencatat hasil pemeriksaan dalam formulir yang disusun bersama tim pengabdi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengenali tanda awal karies, terbentuknya sistem skrining rutin setiap bulan, serta meningkatnya kesadaran siswa untuk menjaga kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Program ini berhasil memperkuat peran UKS sebagai pusat kegiatan promotif dan preventif di sekolah dasar. Kegiatan lanjutan disarankan untuk difokuskan pada perluasan implementasi Kit Skrining Karies Anak ke sekolah lain dan pengembangan model monitoring digital agar hasil skrining dapat diintegrasikan dengan layanan puskesmas secara berkelanjutan. ABSTRACT The high prevalence of dental caries among elementary school children in Aceh Besar reflects the lack of early detection practices for oral health within school settings. To address this issue, a community service program was carried out at MIN 20 Aceh Besar through the innovation of a Child Caries Screening Kit based on appropriate technology. This program aimed to enhance the skills of school health unit (UKS) teachers and student health cadres (young doctors) in conducting independent basic dental screenings. The activity employed a participatory training approach and continuous mentoring over four months, involving 10 UKS teachers and 30 young doctors. Participants were trained to use the screening kit, perform routine monthly examinations, and record findings using standardized forms developed with the project team. The results demonstrated significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and ability to identify early caries, the establishment of a structured monthly screening system, and increased awareness among students regarding oral hygiene. Overall, this program strengthened the role of UKS as a center for promotive and preventive health activities in schools. Future programs are recommended to expand the implementation of the screening kit to other schools and to develop a digital monitoring system that connects school-based screening data with local public health centers for sustainable follow-up care.
