Abstract. The rapid advancement of digital technology has positioned online games as a primary source of entertainment and a complex economic activity for young people, particularly Islamic university students. This phenomenon raises concerns about shifts in consumption behavior and declining moral values within religious academic environments. This study aims to analyze the preferences and behaviors of students from the Faculty of Sharia at Universitas Islam Bandung who have an Islamic religious education background toward online games from the perspective of Maqashid Syariah. A mixed-methods approach (qualitative and quantitative) was employed, involving questionnaire distribution and in-depth interviews with students from cohorts 2022 to 2025 (n=73 questionnaires; interviews with 2 students). The results reveal that 18.52% of respondents are active online game players. An analysis based on Maqashid Syariah uncovers significant negative impacts on al-dharuriyyat al-khamsah: violations of hifz al-din (neglect of prayer, toxic behavior), hifz al-'aql (decline in academic concentration), hifz al-nafs (emotional disturbances, stress, insufficient rest), hifz al-nasl (social isolation, exposure to negative content), and hifz al-mal (impulsive overspending on virtual item top-ups). The study concludes that there is a gap between normative Sharia understanding and the digital lifestyle practices of Sharia students, necessitating integrative character-building strategies on campus, such as integrating Islamic digital education to achieve holistic community welfare.
