Down syndrome is a disorder of the chromosome structure characterized by mental retardation ranging from moderate to severe and is a congenital syndrome that appears at birth, due to abnormal fetal development. Down syndrome children have special characteristics that can be immediately seen as differences from normal children. Research on children with Down syndrome is very important to improve their quality of life. It is important to understand that children with Down syndrome are unique individuals with their own interests and desires. They have the same right to be treated fairly and respected as an important part of society. This research is qualitative in nature with a content analysis approach with data sources from research materials from several Scopus-based national and international literature with a total of 22 articles related to the theme to be discussed. The results of this research are about children with Down syndrome to understand that children with Down syndrome are unique individuals with their own interests and desires. They have the same right to be treated fairly and respected as an important part of society. With greater knowledge, understanding and inclusion, we can create a supportive environment for all children, including those with special needs such as Down syndrome.
