This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students on alternative energy sources material in grade VI of SD 064037 Medan Tembung. One of the efforts made to overcome this problem is to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in the context of Social Scientific Issues (SSI). This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 24 grade VI students as subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation, and learning outcome tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of percentage and average learning outcomes. The results showed that student learning activities increased in each cycle: cycle I by 78% (good category), cycle II by 87% (very good category), and cycle III by 95% (very good category). The student learning outcomes also increased, with classical completeness in cycle I by 38% (average value 60.25), cycle II by 75% (average value 74.58), and cycle III reaching 92% (average value 85.42). Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model in the context of SSI is effective in improving student learning outcomes on alternative energy source material
