This research is motivated by the low reading comprehension ability of third-grade students of SDN 85 Wanua Baru, where students tend to read texts without understanding the content of the reading. The speedreading method is considered effective in improving students' reading speed and comprehension. This studyaims to determine the effect of the speed reading method on students' reading comprehension ability. The type of research used is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the study were all 10 third- grade students of SDN 85 Wanua Baru. Data were obtained through reading comprehension tests (pretest and posttest) and observations. Data analysis was carried out usingdescriptive statistics and paired sample t-test using SPSS versionThe results showed that the average pretest score of students was 42.00 and increased to 92.00 in theposttest. The t-test produced a significance value of <0.001 (<0.05), which means there is a significant difference between the results before and after treatment. This proves that the speed reading method has a positive and significant effect on students' reading comprehension ability. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the speed reading method is able to improve the reading comprehension of grade III students at SDN 85 Wanua Baru.
