ANALISA PENGARUH PENAMBAHAN WATER INJECTION SISTEM PADA MOTOR BAKAR 4 LANGKAH TERHADAP KINERJA MESIN

Abstract

 Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effect of adding a water injection system to a four-stroke internal combustion engine on engine performance, exhaust emissions, and fuel consumption efficiency. The experimental method was conducted by comparing engine conditions before and after the installation of water injection at a water flow rate of 15 ml/s. The results showed that the use of water injection improved engine performance, where torque increased from 14.60 Nm to 15.09 Nm and power from 11.38 hp to 12.07 hp. Furthermore, exhaust emissions were reduced, with CO decreasing from 4.86 ppm/vol to 3.89 ppm/vol and HC from 469 ppm/vol to 209 ppm/vol. These values remain well below the Euro 2 regulation limits (CO 5.5 ppm/vol and HC 2200 ppm/vol), making the system more environmentally friendly. In terms of fuel consumption, water injection significantly improved efficiency, where 1 liter of fuel that previously covered 59 km increased to 73 km, resulting in a 23% efficiency gain. Overall, the application of the water injection system proved to enhance engine performance, reduce emissions, and improve fuel consumption efficiency. Keyword: Water injection, four-stroke engine, engine performance, exhaust emissions, fuel efficiency. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penambahan sistem water injection pada motor bakar 4 langkah terhadap kinerja mesin, emisi gas buang, serta efisiensi konsumsi bahan bakar. Metode pengujian dilakukan dengan membandingkan kondisi mesin sebelum dan sesudah pemasangan water injection pada debit air 15 ml/detik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan water injection mampu meningkatkan kinerja mesin, di mana torsi awal sebesar 14,60 Nm dan daya 11,38 hp meningkat menjadi 15,09 Nm dan 12,07 hp. Selain itu, terjadi penurunan kadar emisi gas buang, yaitu CO dari 4,86 ppm/vol menjadi 3,89 ppm/vol dan HC dari 469 ppm/vol menjadi 209 ppm/vol. Nilai ini masih berada di bawah ambang batas regulasi Euro 2 (CO 5,5 ppm/vol dan HC 2200 ppm/vol), sehingga lebih ramah lingkungan. Dari sisi konsumsi bahan bakar, water injection memberikan penghematan signifikan, di mana 1 liter bahan bakar yang sebelumnya menempuh jarak 59 km meningkat menjadi 73 km, dengan efisiensi penggunaan sebesar 23%. Secara keseluruhan, penerapan sistem water injection terbukti mampu meningkatkan performa mesin, menurunkan emisi, serta meningkatkan efisiensi konsumsi bahan bakar. Kata kunci: Water injection, motor bakar 4 langkah, kinerja mesin, emisi gas buang, efisiensi bahan bakar.
