Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi strategi pembelajaran kontekstual dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca awal siswa kelas I di SDN 21 Nanga Lapung dan bagaimana tantangan atau kendala yang dihadap dalam penerapannya. Strategi pembelajaran kontekstual menghubungkan materi pelajaran dengan situasi dunia nyata yang relevan, membuat proses belajar lebih bermakna dan menarik bagi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatifdeskriptif. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan data melalui studi literatur dan observasi dokumen sekolah Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran kontekstual di SDN 21 Nanga Lapung telah terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca awal siswa kelas I. meskipun menghadapi berbagai kendala seperti keterbatasan sumber daya, keterampilan dan pengetahuan guru, variasi tingkat kemampuan siswa, serta keterlibatan orang tua dan komunitas, solusi kreatif dan dukungan kolaboratif berhasil mengatasi tantangan ini. Pendekatan ini berhasil menghubungkan materi pelajaran dengan situasi dunia nyata yang relevan bagi siswa, menjadikan proses belajar lebih bermakna dan menarik. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Kontekstual, Kemampuan Membaca. Abstract This study aims to examine the implementation of contextual teaching and learning strategies in improving the early reading skills of first-grade students at SDN 21 Nanga Lapung and the challenges or obstacles faced in its application. Contextual teaching and learning strategies link lesson materials with relevant real-world situations, making the learning process more meaningful and engaging for students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was collected through literature review and observation of school documents. The results of the study indicate that the contextual teaching and learning strategy at SDN 21 Nanga Lapung has proven effective in enhancing the early reading skills of first-grade students. Despite facing various obstacles such as limited resources, teacher skills and knowledge, variations in student ability levels, and parent and community involvement, creative solutions and collaborative support successfully overcame these challenges. This approach successfully connects lesson materials with relevant real-world situations for students, making the learning process more meaningful and engaging.Keywords: Contextual Learning, Reading Ability
