This study aims to investigate food security in the perspective of junior high school students in urban area in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The research is a cross-sectional study using survey method to explore students"™ perception. The study involved 191 junior high school students from grade 7, 8, and 9. The sample was chosen by convenience sampling. The research used 4 open ended questions which are delivered by utilizing google forms. However, students were supervised while completing the survey. Therefore, the researcher could minimize interfering variable which might affect students"™ answer. The result found that most student link food security to sufficient and availability aspect. Furthermore, nutrition, accessibility, safe, and healthy aspect of the food appear in smaller frequency. However, there is no students mention the aspect of affordability, beliefs, sustainability, utilization, and stability of food. There is a need to enhance students"™ awareness in the sustainability aspect of food security since Indonesia performs very weak in ensuring the sustainability and adaptation aspect. It is found that in the perspective of 57% the students, Indonesia has a good food security while about 43 % think otherwise. Students already have a hint of factors that can negatively impact food security Indonesia as well as supporting factor.
