Introduction: Balanced blood sugar levels in Type 2 DM patients can be achieved by implementing the pillars of diabetes mellitus management. Good family support can enable DM sufferers to control their blood sugar levels well. It is necessary to know the extent of the family's role in providing diabetic care at home. Objective: This study aims to determine the family's experience in caring for Type 2 DM patients at Wangaya Regional Hospital, Denpasar City. Method: This study design is a qualitative study with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with five participants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and observations. Data analysis used the Colaizzi method. Results: The results of this study found five themes, namely (1) family knowledge about diabetes mellitus, (2) family knowledge about diabetes mellitus management, (3) family support for patients in diabetes mellitus management, (4) family obstacles in helping with diabetes mellitus management, (5) family efforts to utilize health service facilities in diabetes mellitus management. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that families have made efforts to help implement diabetes management but have not done so comprehensively.
