Perbedaan Kematangan Karier Mahasiswa Ditinjau dari Jenis Kelamin dan Program Studi

Abstract

Abstract In the globalization era, university students are expected not only to excel academically but also to be ready for the job market by developing career maturity. This study aimed to examine differences in career maturity based on gender and academic major. The research used a quantitative, non-experimental comparative design involving 375 active students from the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya, selected through quota sampling. The instrument used was a career maturity scale developed based on Donald Super’s theory (1990), covering aspects of planning, exploration, decision-making, job knowledge, career preferences, and transition readiness. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test due to non-normal distribution. The results showed no significant differences in career maturity based on gender or academic major. This study concludes that internal factors such as self-efficacy and self-control are likely more influential than demographic factors. Keywords: academic major; career maturity, gender; student Abstrak Pada era globalisasi, mahasiswa tidak hanya dituntut unggul secara akademis, tetapi juga harus siap menghadapi dunia kerja melalui pengembangan kematangan karier. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan tingkat kematangan karier berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan program studi. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif non-eksperimental dengan partisipan sebanyak 375 mahasiswa aktif Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 Surabaya yang dipilih menggunakan teknik quota sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa skala kematangan karier yang dikembangkan berdasarkan teori Donald Super (1990), mencakup aspek perencanaan, eksplorasi, pengambilan keputusan, informasi dunia kerja, preferensi, dan kesiapan transisi. Teknik analisis menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney U karena data tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam kematangan karier berdasarkan jenis kelamin maupun program studi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa faktor internal seperti efikasi diri dan kontrol diri kemungkinan lebih berpengaruh terhadap kematangan karier dibanding faktor demografis.
