This study aims to analyze students’ difficulties in writing opinion texts in Indonesian language learning in the fifth grade of SDN 2 Nanga Mancur. The research employed a qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were 9 fifth-grade students. The results showed that students experienced various difficulties in writing opinion texts, including difficulties in determining topics, expressing opinions clearly, organizing logical and coherent arguments, and applying appropriate language rules. In addition, students were not yet able to develop ideas systematically, resulting in less structured writing. The factors causing these difficulties include low reading and writing interest, lack of understanding of opinion text concepts, limited writing practice, and the use of conventional and less varied teaching methods. Therefore, improvement efforts are needed through the implementation of innovative teaching methods, continuous writing practice, and intensive guidance from teachers to enhance students’ ability in writing opinion texts.
