This study aims to analyze the comparative effectiveness of the Ummi method and the Iqra’ method on students’ ability to read the Qur’an at TPQ Nurussalam Adipuro. The study employed a quantitative approach with comparative and correlational research designs. The research subjects consisted of 140 students aged 7–13 years and 15 TPQ teachers. Data were collected through Qur’anic reading tests, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, correlation tests, and independent t-tests. The results showed that the Ummi method obtained an average Qur’anic reading score of 82.4, categorized as very good, while the Iqra’ method obtained an average score of 76.8, categorized as good. The Ummi method was superior in the aspects of tajwid application, makhraj accuracy, and tartil reading regularity, whereas the Iqra’ method was superior in terms of ease of implementation and acceleration of basic Qur’anic reading skills. The analysis also revealed that teacher competence, learning strategies, and learning motivation had significant relationships with students’ Qur’anic reading ability. This study indicates that the selection of Qur’anic reading learning methods should be adjusted to students’ characteristics and the learning objectives of the TPQ institution. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbandingan efektivitas metode Ummi dan metode Iqra’ terhadap kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an santri di TPQ Nurussalam Adipuro. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian komparatif dan korelasional. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 140 santri usia 7–13 tahun dan 15 guru TPQ. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes membaca Al-Qur’an, angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji korelasi, dan uji t independen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Ummi memperoleh rata-rata skor kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an sebesar 82,4 dengan kategori sangat baik, sedangkan metode Iqra’ memperoleh rata-rata skor 76,8 dengan kategori baik. Metode Ummi lebih unggul pada aspek penerapan tajwid, ketepatan makhraj, dan keteraturan bacaan tartil, sedangkan metode Iqra’ lebih unggul pada aspek kemudahan implementasi dan percepatan penguasaan bacaan dasar Al-Qur’an. Hasil analisis juga menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi guru, strategi pembelajaran, dan motivasi belajar memiliki hubungan signifikan terhadap kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an santri. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemilihan metode pembelajaran membaca Al-Qur’an perlu disesuaikan dengan karakteristik santri dan tujuan pembelajaran di TPQ.
