This study is motivated by the low early reading skills of second grade students at SDN 288 Watang Cani, as indicated by students' difficulty reading letters, syllables, words, and simple sentences fluently, as well as their low reading interest and independent reading habits. This study aims to determine the improvement of early reading skills through the utilization of a reading corner. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 9 second-grade students of SDN 288 Watang Cani. Data were collected through observation and early reading skills tests, analyzed using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results showed an increase in classical learning completeness: pre-cycle 22.2%, Cycle I 55.6%, and Cycle II 100%. Teacher and student activity also improved from fair in Cycle I to good and very good in Cycle II. It is concluded that the optimal and structured utilization of a reading corner can improve the early reading skills of second grade students at SDN 288 Watang Cani.
