Abstract

Easy access to financial technology requires students to have good financial management skills to support academic success. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy, demographic factors, and lifestyle on financial management behavior and its implications for student achievement in West Kalimantan. Using a quantitative descriptive and verification approach, this study involved one hundred and fifty private university students selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through questionnaires and tested using path analysis and the Sobel test. The research findings indicate that financial literacy and demographic factors have a positive and significant effect on financial management behavior, contributing 29% and 25%, respectively, while lifestyle factors have no significant effect. Simultaneously, financial literacy, demographic factors, and financial management behavior have a significant effect on academic achievement. The Sobel test confirms that financial management behavior significantly mediates the influence of financial literacy and demographic factors on academic achievement, but not on lifestyle variables. In conclusion, strengthening financial literacy and controlling demographic factors is crucial because effective financial management behavior is a key mechanism in improving student academic achievement. These results emphasize the importance of financial education on campus to prevent the negative impact of a consumptive lifestyle on academic performance. This study recommends integrating financial management curricula to improve graduate quality. ABSTRAK Kemudahan akses teknologi finansial menuntut mahasiswa memiliki pengelolaan keuangan yang baik guna mendukung keberhasilan akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh literasi keuangan, faktor demografi, dan gaya hidup terhadap perilaku manajemen keuangan serta implikasinya pada prestasi belajar mahasiswa di Kalimantan Barat. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dan verifikatif, studi ini melibatkan seratus lima puluh mahasiswa perguruan tinggi swasta yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan diuji menggunakan analisis jalur serta uji Sobel. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi keuangan dan faktor demografi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap perilaku manajemen keuangan dengan kontribusi masing-masing sebesar 29% dan 25%, sedangkan gaya hidup tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Secara simultan, literasi keuangan, demografi, dan perilaku manajemen berpengaruh signifikan terhadap prestasi belajar. Uji Sobel mengonfirmasi bahwa perilaku manajemen keuangan memediasi secara signifikan pengaruh literasi keuangan dan faktor demografi terhadap prestasi belajar, namun tidak pada variabel gaya hidup. Kesimpulannya, penguatan literasi keuangan dan pengendalian faktor demografi sangat krusial karena perilaku manajemen keuangan yang efektif menjadi mekanisme kunci dalam meningkatkan capaian akademik mahasiswa. Hasil ini menegaskan pentingnya edukasi finansial di kampus untuk mencegah dampak negatif gaya hidup konsumtif terhadap studi. Studi ini merekomendasikan integrasi kurikulum manajemen finansial demi menunjang kualitas lulusan.
