Abstract

AbstractAnemia among adolescent girls remains a significant health problem influenced by limited knowledge of reproductivehealth and unhealthy dietary patterns. Excessive consumption of fast food and instant food may increase the risk ofanemia in adolescent girls. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of reproductive health education inpreventing anemia among adolescent girls at SMA Primbana Medan City. This research employed a case study designinvolving 28 adolescent girls aged 15–18 years. The program was conducted over two weeks through three meetingsusing lectures, PowerPoint presentations, educational videos, educational WhatsApp groups, and health counselingmethods. The educational materials covered anemia, the impact of fast-food consumption, the importance of breakfast,and balanced nutritious diets. Evaluation was carried out through observation, as well as pre-test and post-testassessments to measure changes in participants’ knowledge. The results showed an improvement in adolescent girls’knowledge regarding anemia and reproductive health after receiving the education. In addition, behavioral changeswere observed, including increased breakfast habits and reduced consumption of instant and fast foods. Therefore,reproductive health education can be an effective promotive and preventive strategy in preventing anemia amongadolescent girls.Keywords: anemia, adolescent girls, reproductive health, education, prevention.
