Abstract

Student motivation to learn is an important factor in the success of education, especially in vocational schools that are oriented towards job readiness. However, student learning motivation is still a problem that is influenced by various factors, especially the family environment. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of the family environment including the role of parents, home atmosphere, as well as supervision and tutoring on the learning motivation of vocational school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational descriptive design. The population is 758 students in class X in the field of Mechanical Engineering from 11 vocational schools in Surakarta City, with a sample of 500 students selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected using questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out by calculating averages and percentages, then interpreted using the category of influence level. The results of the study show that the family environment has a significant effect on students' learning motivation. The role of parents was influential by 66.7%, home atmosphere 76.8%, and supervision and tutoring by 75.8%, all of which were included in the influencing category. These findings show that students' learning motivation is not only determined by the school, but also by family conditions, such as parental involvement, economic conditions, and the learning atmosphere at home.
