This study aims to reconstruct a theology of religious moderation by exploring the narrative of Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42. The discourse of religious moderation in Indonesia is often dominated by sociological and political approaches, while its biblical foundation remains underdeveloped. Using a hermeneutical method with narrative criticism and socio-rhetorical analysis, this research finds that Jesus' encounter transcends ethnic, gender, and theological boundaries through hospitality, equal dialogue, and recognition of the other's dignity. The findings affirm that this narrative provides a theological basis for religious moderation rooted in respect for humanity and openness to differences. This reconstruction is relevant to Indonesia's pluralistic context.
