This study aims to examine the relationship between student group involvement and the level of tolerance toward differences in Islamic schools of thought (mazhab) cohort students of at IAIN Sorong. The background of this research arises from the fact that although students are expected to be active in campus organizations to enhance social skills and inclusive attitudes, intra-religious tolerance toward mazhab variations still needs to be empirically tested. The study employs a quantitative correlational approach with random sampling of 35 students from five study programs. Data were collected through a closed Likert scale questionnaire (1–5) that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0.70). Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality test, reliability test, Pearson correlation analysis, and simple linear regression with SPSS version 24. The results showed that the mean score of student group involvement was 3.09 (SD = 0.73) and the mean score of madzhab tolerance was 3.30 (SD = 0.61). Pearson correlation analysis yielded r = 0.115, p = 0.510 > 0.05, while simple linear regression showed R² = 0.013, F = 0.443, p = 0.510, indicating that student group involvement does not have a significant effect on tolerance toward madzhab differences. These findings imply that student activeness in organizational groups does not automatically foster substantive tolerant attitudes; therefore, it needs to be combined with quality interactions, reflective experiences, and structured tolerance education. This study provides implications for the development of intra-religious tolerance education programs in Islamic higher education institutions and opens up opportunities for further research on other factors influencing students’ tolerant attitudes toward madzhab diversity. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara keterlibatan kelompok mahasiswa dengan tingkat toleransi terhadap perbedaan madzab pada mahasiswa IAIN Sorong. Latar belakang penelitian ini muncul dari kenyataan bahwa meskipun mahasiswa diharapkan aktif dalam kelompok organisasi kampus dapat meningkatkan kemampuan sosial dan sikap inklusif, tingkat toleransi intraagama terhadap variasi madzab masih perlu diuji secara empiris. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional dengan random sampling sebanyak 35 mahasiswa dari lima program studi. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner tertutup skala Likert 1–5 yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya (Cronbach’s Alpha > 0,70). Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji deskriptif, uji normalitas, uji reliabilitas, analisis korelasi Pearson, dan regresi linear sederhana menggunakan SPSS versi 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor keterlibatan kelompok mahasiswa rata-rata 3,09 (SD = 0,73) dan skor toleransi madzab rata-rata 3,30 (SD = 0,61). Analisis korelasi Pearson menghasilkan r = 0,115, p = 0,510 > 0,05, sedangkan regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan R² = 0,013, F = 0,443, p = 0,510, yang mengindikasikan bahwa keterlibatan kelompok mahasiswa tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap toleransi perbedaan madzab. Temuan ini memaknai bahwa keaktifan mahasiswa dalam kelompok organisasi tidak secara otomatis membentuk sikap toleran substantif, sehingga perlu dikombinasikan dengan interaksi berkualitas, pengalaman reflektif, dan pendidikan toleransi yang terstruktur. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi bagi pengembangan program pendidikan toleransi intraagama di perguruan tinggi Islam dan membuka peluang penelitian lanjutan terkait faktor-faktor lain yang memengaruhi pembentukan sikap toleran mahasiswa terhadap keragaman mazhab.
