Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of participatory leadership style and human resource (HR) competency on employee performance moderated by work motivation in the Pekanbaru District Court environment. The population in this study consists of employees of the Pekanbaru District Court who have civil servant status. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, which is a technique for determining samples based on certain considerations or criteria. This technique was chosen because not all members of the population met the criteria to be research respondents, with a sample size of 44 respondents. The analysis method used in this study was Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to determine the extent to which work motivation moderates the influence of participatory leadership style and HR competence on employee performance. The results of the study indicate that participatory leadership style and HR competence have a significant effect on employee performance. Work motivation strengthens the relationship between HR competence and performance, but work motivation does not strengthen the relationship between participatory leadership and performance. Therefore, this study suggests that the Pekanbaru District Court should adopt a different leadership style to improve employee performance.
