Various moral issues that still occur in Indonesian society, such as corruption, abuse of trust, the spread of false information, and the low consistency between words and actions, demonstrate the importance of strengthening national character based on moral and religious values. From the perspective of the Qur'an, this phenomenon is related to the concept of nifaq which describes the inconsistency between beliefs, words, and actions. This study aims to analyze the nifaq verses in the Qur'an through a contextual interpretation approach and examine their implications for the development of the character of the Indonesian nation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a library research type. Data were obtained through a study of the Qur'an, tafsir books, books, and relevant scientific articles. The analysis focused on QS. Al-Baqarah verses 8–20, QS. Al-Munafiqun verses 1–8, and QS. Al-Tawbah verses 64–68 using a contextual interpretation approach. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of hypocrisy described in the Qur'an, such as lying, betrayal of trust, and moral inconsistency, are relevant to various character problems faced by the Indonesian nation. Furthermore, the antithetical values of hypocrisy, namely shidiq, amanah, and istiqamah, can serve as a foundation for strengthening character education and building national character. Thus, the hypocrisy verses not only have a theological dimension but also contain moral values relevant to addressing the challenges of contemporary social life.
