Abstrak: The purpose of this study was to determine the backhand serve skills in badminton among eighth-grade students of SMP Swasta Bhinneka and to provide an initial overview of students’ skills in Physical Education (PJOK) learning. This research employed a quantitative descriptive design using a survey method through tests and measurements. The population of the study consisted of 14 students. The instruments used included interviews, an accuracy test, and a backhand serve technique test in badminton. The data analysis technique applied in this study was descriptive analysis based on percentages.Based on the interview results, it was found that students’ level of interest in badminton learning was relatively low due to their limited understanding of the basic techniques of the game. However, in general, the students’ backhand serve ability was categorized as good. The results showed that 8 students (57.14%) were in the very high category and 6 students (42.85%) were in the high category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the ability of class VIII students of Bhinneka Private Middle School in performing backhand serves in badminton is at a fairly good level. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterampilan servis backhand badminton pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Bhinneka dan memberikan gambaran awal keterampilan siswa dalam pembelajaran PJOK. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan metode survei melalui tes dan pengukuran. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 14 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa wawancara, tes ketepatan, dan tes teknik servis backhand badminton. Teknik analisis data yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif berbasis persentase. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara, diketahui bahwa tingkat ketertarikan siswa terhadap pembelajaran badminton tergolong rendah yang disebabkan oleh kurangnya pemahaman mereka terhadap teknik-teknik dasar permainan. Namun, kemampuan servis backhand siswa secara umum berada pada kategori baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 8 siswa (57,14%) berada pada kategori sangat tinggi dan 6 siswa (42,85%) pada kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Bhinneka dalam melakukan servis backhand pada permainan badminton memiliki tingkat yang cukup baik.
