Abstract

Menstrual personal hygiene is an essential practice for maintaining adolescent girls' reproductive health and preventing reproductive tract infections. However, knowledge regarding proper menstrual hygiene practices remains limited and requires improvement through health education. This community service activity aimed to improve students' knowledge of menstrual personal hygiene through health education. The activity was conducted on Friday, June 19, 2026, at SMP Negeri 40 Bulukumba, involving 13 female students. The methods included preparation, health education through interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test. The results demonstrated an improvement in participants' knowledge across all evaluated aspects, including understanding of personal hygiene (38% to 100%), proper genital hygiene practices (31% to 92%), appropriate frequency of changing sanitary pads (46% to 92%), handwashing before and after changing sanitary pads (54% to 100%), awareness of the consequences of poor menstrual hygiene (23% to 85%), and proper disposal of used sanitary pads (46% to 100%). These findings indicate that health education was effective in improving students' knowledge of menstrual personal hygiene and is expected to promote healthy behaviors in maintaining reproductive health.
