Abstract

Purpose: To examine the role of teacher agility in the relationship between flexible leadership and adaptive performance in the education sector, particularly in building teachers’ adaptive performance amid the Industrial Era 5.0. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a sample of 30 school principals and 30 teachers from private senior high schools and private vocational schools in several regions of East Java Province, Indonesia. Result: The results show that flexible leadership demonstrated by principals positively and significantly influences teacher agility and teachers’ adaptive performance. Teacher agility has a positive and substantial effect on adaptive performance. In addition, flexible leadership has an indirect effect on teachers’ adaptive performance, with teacher agility acting as a partial mediator. The findings provide new insights into how flexible leadership supports adaptive performance in educational settings.
