ABSTRACT Student participation in the Impactful Internship Program is one of the indicators of the successful implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy because it provides contextual learning experiences while strengthening students’ readiness to enter the workforce. However, student participation levels are influenced by various factors that need to be examined within different higher education contexts. This study aims to analyze the effects of parental support, self-efficacy, facilities, curiosity, environment and peers, interest, and motivation on student participation in the Impactful Internship Program. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 77 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results showed that motivation, self-efficacy, interest, curiosity, and parental support had positive and significant effects on student participation, while facilities and environment and peers did not have significant effects. Motivation was identified as the most dominant factor influencing student participation. These findings indicate that the success of the Impactful Internship Program requires strengthening students’ psychological factors and social support, enabling higher education institutions to develop more effective strategies for increasing student participation in MBKM implementation. ABSTRAK Partisipasi mahasiswa dalam Program Magang Berdampak menjadi salah satu indikator keberhasilan implementasi kebijakan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) karena memberikan pengalaman belajar kontekstual sekaligus memperkuat kesiapan memasuki dunia kerja. Namun, tingkat partisipasi mahasiswa dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor yang perlu dikaji sesuai konteks perguruan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh dukungan orang tua, efikasi diri, fasilitas, keingintahuan, lingkungan dan teman sebaya, minat, serta motivasi terhadap partisipasi mahasiswa dalam Program Magang Berdampak. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei terhadap 77 mahasiswa Departemen Teknik Mesin Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Padang yang dipilih melalui purposive sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) dengan bantuan SmartPLS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi, efikasi diri, minat, keingintahuan, dan dukungan orang tua berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap partisipasi mahasiswa, sedangkan fasilitas serta lingkungan dan teman sebaya tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Motivasi menjadi faktor paling dominan dalam meningkatkan partisipasi mahasiswa. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa keberhasilan Program Magang Berdampak perlu didukung oleh penguatan faktor psikologis mahasiswa dan dukungan sosial, sehingga perguruan tinggi dapat merancang strategi peningkatan partisipasi yang lebih efektif dalam implementasi MBKM.
