Abstract

Islam is a religion that is oriented towards justice for others. One of them is about leadership. Good leadership will form a good community order too. It cannot be measured from the gender whether he is able to become a leader or not. The purpose of this research is to know the concept of women's leadership in Islam based on the interpretation of K.H. Husein Muhammad towards Q.S An-Nisa verse 34. This research uses a qualitative method which is sourced from the library (library research). The results of this study can be concluded that Q.S An-Nisa verse 34 discusses the superiority of men to become a leader, because Allah exceeds their class from other groups. The majority of certain groups are of the view that the cut in the meaning of the verse becomes a legitimacy that men are more entitled to be leaders than women. However, in the interpretation of KH Husein Muhammad it has explained more broadly that the benefit in public power can be enforced, among others, through methods of democratic leadership and based on the constitution, as well as protection of human rights, not tyrannical, authoritarian and centralistic power. it has nothing to do with matters of gender, but to personal qualifications, intellectual and moral integrity.
