<![CDATA[This study aims to investigate how effective the use of YouTube as a means of independent learning in deepening the understanding of Indonesian language material for fifth grade students at Mertan 04 State Elementary School. The method applied in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interview, and documentation techniques by applying source triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the use of YouTube as a learning tool has a positive effect on student understanding. Students become more proactive, motivated, and more easily grasp the material thanks to interesting audio-visual presentations. In addition, the use of YouTube also encourages students to learn independently because they can access and repeat lessons at any time. Improved understanding can be seen from students' ability to answer questions, writing skills, and a more in-depth diversity of answers. Therefore, it can be concluded that YouTube is proven to be effective as a means of independent learning to improve mastery of Indonesian language material among elementary school students.]]>
