Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies for developing independence in early childhood at TK Puspa Bangsa and TK Rumah Pintar Indonesia in Kusan Tengah District, Tanah Bumbu Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a multi-site design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed through site and cross-site analysis. Data validity was ensured through triangulation techniques. The findings revealed that the strategies for developing children’s independence were implemented through regularly planned school programs referring to local educational policies. The development of independence was carried out through daily habituation, role modeling, the creation of a safe and comfortable environment, and collaboration between teachers and parents to ensure that children’s independent attitudes developed consistently and continuously. Factors influencing the development of independence included the family environment, school environment, and children’s social environment. The findings emphasize that collaboration between schools and parents is the main factor in building the character of independence in early childhood.
