Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed digital business and increased the demand for individuals who are capable of adapting to technological change. While previous studies have primarily emphasized digital literacy and technical competencies as determinants of AI adoption, limited research has examined the role of psychological factors, particularly growth mindset, in facilitating AI adoption among vocational high school students. This study aimed to investigate the effect of growth mindset on Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption in digital business among students enrolled in the Office Management and Business Services Program at Harapan Bangsa Vocational High School, Tanjung Morawa. A quantitative predictive correlational design was employed involving 48 twelfth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable Likert-scale instruments measuring growth mindset and AI adoption in digital business. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The findings revealed that growth mindset had a positive and statistically significant effect on AI adoption in digital business (β = 0.646, t = 5.743, p < .001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.418) indicated that growth mindset explained 41.8% of the variance in AI adoption, while the remaining 58.2% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings suggest that students who believe their abilities can be developed through continuous learning and effort are more likely to accept and utilize AI technologies in academic and digital business contexts. Therefore, vocational education should not only strengthen students' technical AI competencies but also cultivate a growth mindset to enhance their readiness to adapt to ongoing technological advancements.
